There are many different types of poetry. They cause us to think and reflect on our lives and experiences. On this page I am including some links to different types of poems. I would like you to explore the links on this page and the books in our classroom to find two poems that you understand and can make connections to. Then I would like you to reflect on the poems in your classroom journal. You will be asked to partner up and share your favorite poems and reflections with a classmate.

Step 1: Make sure that when you write down your reflections that you include the poem and stanza number that you are reflecting on, and tell exactly why you came to your conclusion.
Step 2: Practice reading your poems in the whisper phone before sharing them with your partner in order to increase your fluency.
Step 3: Share your poems and discuss your reflections with your partner. Add to your reflections if you find you have left something out or discovered something new with your partner.
Step 4: Have your partner record you reading one of the poems you picked using the ipad.
